What you get in the Pro Max Plus kit

The Hayati Pro Max Plus is a prefilled pod kit, and the kit is the starting point. It contains the rechargeable device together with one flavour: a 2ml pod and a 9.5ml refill container of e-liquid. Once that flavour is used up, the device stays and a set of Pro Max Plus pods goes in. You buy the kit once, then pods as often as you need them.

The body is metal and measures 28 x 124.7 x 28mm, just under 12.5cm tall. A smart screen shows an animated battery display, so the charge level is visible at a glance.

If you are moving over from disposables, the routine barely changes. You still pick a flavour and a strength, but the battery gets recharged and the pod gets swapped instead of the whole vape going in the bin. Inside the pod: Hayati Fresh Tech

Your starter flavour is split between a pod and a container. The 2ml pod is transparent, so you can see how much e-liquid is left. Beside it sits a 9.5ml refill container holding the rest of the flavour.

Hayati calls this arrangement Fresh Tech. The container keeps its e-liquid stored apart from the pod, and that liquid is released on insertion. Hayati lists an optimised 1.0 ohm coil for the device.

The sizes line up with UK rules, which cap pods at 2ml and refill containers at 10ml. That is how the Pro Max Plus carries more liquid than a single 2ml pod while staying inside the limits.

Battery life, charging and the 6,000-puff rating

Hayati rates the Pro Max Plus for up to 6,000 puffs, and the brand also refers to it as the Pro Max+ 6K. The figure is a rating: the number you actually get depends on how long and how often you draw.

Power comes from an 850mAh battery that charges at 1A. Hayati quotes 80% charge in 40 minutes and about three days of use from one charge.

The battery and the e-liquid run out on their own schedules. You recharge when the screen shows the battery is low, and fit a new pod set when the flavour is finished. Neither one means replacing the device.

A smaller Pro Max Plus 4000 is coming soon, with a 1.5ml pod, a 5.5ml container and 20mg only. This 6,000-puff kit is the larger of the two, and the one with 10mg and 0mg options.

Nicotine strengths for the kit

The Pro Max Plus kit comes in three strengths:

• 20mg: 20mg of nicotine per ml of e-liquid, the UK maximum. If your last disposable was 20mg, this is the same strength.
• 10mg: half the nicotine of 20mg.
• 0mg: nicotine free, flavour only.

Not every flavour is made in every strength. 20mg has the widest choice, while 10mg and 0mg come in a shorter list that includes Summer Dream, Mr Blue, Fresh Mint, Juicy Peach and Watermelon Ice. A fourth strength, 5mg, comes only in the replacement pods.

Pro Max Plus flavours by taste

The Pro Max Plus flavours lean towards fruit, ice and sweets. A quick way to find your corner of the list:

• Ice and mint: Watermelon Ice, Banana Ice, Cola Ice, Fresh Mint, Spearmint and Double Menthol.
• Berries and sour fruit: Blueberry Raspberry, Blue Sour Raspberry, Strawberry Raspberry Ice and Fizzy Cherry.

How to fit the pod and start

1. Take the device, the pod and the refill container out of the box and remove every seal, plug and sticker. One left in place can stop the liquid flowing or the device firing.
2. Press the pod and the refill container together until they lock as one piece.
3. Push that piece into the top of the device until it clicks and sits firmly. If it feels loose, take it out and push it in again.
4. Before the first full draw, give the e-liquid a short while to reach the coil: a few gentle puffs or a minute's wait.
5. Draw on the mouthpiece to vape. There is no button to press and nothing to set.
6. When the liquid runs out, pull the used pod and container out together and fit a new Pro Max Plus pod pack. The device stays.

The screen shows how much battery is left. Charging is by USB-C, and a cable is not in the box, so use one you already have. The maker quotes 80% charge in about 40 minutes.
