Choosing a resistance

The number on the box is the coil resistance, and on the X4 it decides the power. The 0.6 ohm pod runs at 18 to 25W and gives the most vapour. The 1.2 ohm pod sits at 11 to 14W for the tightest draw, and the 0.8 ohm covers the ground between them at 13 to 18W.

Smart Mode on the X4 reads whichever pod is fitted and sets the power to suit, so switching resistance does not mean working through settings. Because boxes are sold by resistance, you can keep the pod you use most and try another without changing the device.

Coil and pod in one

The X4 has no separate coil heads. The mesh coil is part of the pod, so a new pod always brings a new coil, and there is no coil to buy on its own.

Each pod holds 2ml, the most UK rules allow in a refillable pod or tank, and takes e-liquid through a port in the side. The pod is clear, which makes the level easy to keep an eye on. Fill it with bottled e-liquid such as Hayati Pro Max Nic Salts, at any strength up to the UK limit of 20mg/ml.

Fit and compatibility

X4 pods are made for the Hayati X4 alone. Although Quokka pods come in the same three resistances, they are a separate pod, listed for the Quokka kits.

Under UK rules, a reusable vape needs a coil that can be replaced, and on the X4 that coil lives in the pod. Replacement pods are what keep the kit going once the first pods are spent. X4 pods are for adults 18 and over; nicotine is a highly addictive substance.

How to fill and fit an X4 pod

1. Open the fill port on the side of the pod, fill it with e-liquid and close the port.
2. Push the pod into the X4. Smart Mode sets the power to suit its resistance.
3. When the coil wears out, replace the whole pod.

Choosing a resistance: 0.6 ohm suits 18 to 25W, 0.8 ohm 13 to 18W and 1.2 ohm 11 to 14W.
